"mettamorphosis" Silent Retreat (In-Person)

  • Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat (map)

You’re Invited

Thursday 3 - Sunday 6 February 2022

You’re invited to join coach Nicci Cloete on this in-person 3-night retreat at the beautiful Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat, just outside Stanford, in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, South Africa.

Go ahead and book through the Bodhi Khaya website where you can choose your preferred accommodation - prices start at R4050 all inclusive. I have kept my teacher’s fee lower than ever before in an attempt to encourage you to join me, but if you need to discuss a payment plan, please drop me an email and we can chat.

A timely opportunity to rest before the year takes off in earnest, explore and enjoy mindfulness, meditation, yoga, vegetarian meals, deep immersion in nature, heavenly beds and crisp white linen, mountain walks, supportive silence, and companionship with likeminded people.

Beginners welcome.

Spaces are limited, due to COVID regulations, and payment secures booking.

“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now, without wishing it were different;
enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant
without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t)” ~ James Baraz

Life is messy. Being human is complex. The only constant is change. So much of our dis-ease comes from fighting the unavoidable impermanence that is a guaranteed part of being alive.
What if, instead of fighting, resisting, forcing or white-knuckling until circumstances change, we learned to redirect that energy into developing the super-power of finding our peace right slap-bang in middle of the rainbow of chaos that is life?

This is our work.

Transformative Practices

Take a deep, experiential dive into the practice of mindfulness. Breath work, meditation and yoga made simple and accessible. Learn tips and tricks to take home to support you post-retreat. All sessions optional. No experience necessary.

Creature Comforts

Let someone else look after you for a change. Exquisitely prepared, tasty vegetarian meals, an endless supply of tea, filter coffee and jugs of lemon water, your own private room, a comfortable mattress, crisp white linen, two mountain pools, trickling streams, a canopy of trees, a fragrant labyrinth, an expanse of lush green lawn: a feast for the senses.

Deep Relaxation

Cradled by a verdant valley, held by an experienced retreat facilitator, the brilliant venue staff, a supportive silence and the collective energy of the group, here you can let go. Nature provides the soundtrack and guides the rhythm of our weekend.

About The Venue

Bodhi Khaya is a peaceful haven nestled at the foot of the Witkransberg in the beautiful Overberg
region, just 2 hours from Cape Town International Airport. Purpose-built for accommodating yoga,
meditation and a deep immersion in the most pristine natural surroundings, Bodhi Khaya boasts 217
hectares of indigenous fynbos and milkwood forest, and creates the perfect setting in which to
connect with nature, kindred spirits and your own heart.

Hidden in a valley within earshot of the Walker Bay, this eco-spiritual sanctuary enjoys fresh sea and
mountain breezes all year round. The pure air rejuvenates your body and cleanses your lungs.

Water here is alive. It’s fresh, clean and very, very tasty. Direct from the mountain spring, nothing is
added and nothing taken away. Connected to the taps, all the water on the premises is perfectly
drinkable. There is enough for you to swim, bathe, and cleanse. The water is then recycled to nourish
the reforestation project and the growing oasis of birds, bugs, and wildlife.

All meals at Bodhi Khaya are plant-based, prepared with great care and love, and presented with flair.
The organic garden gifts our vegetarian menu delicious, fresh veggies every day. Wherever
necessary, meals may be supplemented with the finest quality ingredients from local purveyors.
Menus are adapted according to source and seasonality and the team is happy to accommodate a
variety of dietary needs.

After a good day of deep transformative work there is nothing like being held in a cosy, comfortable
room for one’s journey through the night world. Our standards and spaces exemplify a simple Zen aesthetic and Bodhi Khaya’s  commitment to service.

Group sessions, called mettamorphosis, are offered in workshop or retreat settings which offer an extended opportunity for personal development and growth, where we practice and deepen mindfulness, meditation, breath work and movement in a supportive environment with likeminded others.

Facilitated by coach + mentor Nicci Cloete, these events are always held in places of exceptional natural beauty, and large periods of our time together are spent in noble silence.

Previous retreats have taken place in South Africa at Temenos (McGregor), Bodhi Khaya (Gansbaai), The Buddhist Retreat Centre (Ixopo, KZN) and The Blue Butterfly Centre (Welbedacht Nature Reserve outside Tulbagh), and at Oana Nature Reserve in the deep South of Namibia.
